Sweet sweet baby...

Lil' Garrett is quite the "trooper." You'd never guess that his mom and I suspected that he's coming down with an ear infection. But in between grabbing his sweet little ears he managed a few smile and some adorable looks for the camera. I just couldn't wait to grab a few images from our session. I hope you're feeling better little G-man before the rest of your images are posted in your gallery!

Okoboji Photography

I had a great time photographing this extended family that came from Idaho, Texas, Colorado and South Dakota for a family get-away at Okoboji. I had never been to this spot before, but we found lots of great locations for the shots and I hope they'll be pleased with the moments captured.

Olympic Connection...

You may have read Abby's "Future Olympian" post below... well here's a update - of sorts!

Abby's dad is headed back to the Olympics and it's so exciting! Abby's dad is also coach to Grego Roman wrestler, Jake Deitchler. While I was photographing Abby, her mom and dad were in Las Vegas for the Olympic trials (not sure if that is the right term or not..bear with me).

At 18 years old, Jake is the youngest wrestler since 1972 to be making the trip to the Olympics.

It's quite exciting! I KNEW those snap shots I took at Easter of Calvin 'wrestling' Brandon's son Eli would come in handly one day to show Brandon that Calvin taught Eli all the right moves---s when omeday when Eli himself has an Olympic medal himself.

(So how soon can I put that on my resume...photographer to Olympians.... ha!)

If you'd like to read more about it...these are some fun links.

Cheer Jake on in China!

9 months~ Merritt

Merritt is 9 months old! Pulling up and sitting like a pro. Pretty soon he'll be able to fend off big brother, Carson. What a pair they will be. Mom loved the way the blue drop made their blue eyes 'POP'. 9 months is always one of my favorite sessions. Babies are so interactive and Merritt really seemed to enjoy his photo session. :)

Beth and Mark

Beth and Mark are preparing for a November wedding! I can't wait to join them on the day and capture all the moments of their big day. We chose something a little different for some of theihr outdoor engagement session shots. You just never know what we'll find...it's a real adventure.
Congratualtions, Beth and Mark!

A Wedding and an Earthquake

I thought this was a pretty interesting take- when wedding photography + earthquake = photojournalism. Wow! How's that for a wedding disaster?!

Future Olympian

Abby's mom requested a few collages and storyboards featuring Abb and her favorite sport~ gymnastics! I wouldn't be surprised at all if Abby is a future Olympian. Her daddy is a silver Olympic Medal Winner~ so she has some good genes there!

The Sighting!

As my family and I were driving to Fairmont Saturday, Sofie spotted a 'deer'. Umm-hmmm we casually said and as Jeff and I looked over our shoulder at the pasture along I-90 we briefly caught a glimpse of it before disappearing behind a hill. In that split second Jeff and I both gasped and asked each other, "Did you see that?!" "It looked like a Mountain Ram!" We drove a little further..."Do you really think that is what it was?!" ...."Can't be." ...."I think it was" ...
"No one will believe us"..... "I've got my camera".... "Let's go back!"....

So we risk ticketing and waste a few gallons of gas to make an illegal turn around in the interstate to go back and captured this photo.

Now, we were a little suspicious. The animal seemed pretty stationary. And since in portions of Sioux Valley I am still known as BOBCAT (that's a whole nother story) I was trying to be cautious about this sighting.

When I got home that night the first thing I did was d/l the photo and zoom in... this particular Mt Ram seemed to be seamed in three pieces.

OK- - Someone out there knows the story. Who is the Jackson jokester with the Mt. Ram sense of humor? I want reimbursement for my gasoline and humiliation. LOL!
Did I mention we hit a deer on the way home? That one was unfortunately real.

Renae

Little Renae is 9 months old already- I can't believe that! She is dressed in her wedding finery as she will be the flower girl for her uncle's wedding this Saturday, but first...she had to get her beautiful ivory dress and big bright eyes documented in a portrait. Then time to get more casual in some summer wear! I havent' used my pink for so long....it's been a heavy on the boys season lately.

A popular month for One Year Olds

Someone else just turned one! Meet Ryan~ a big brown eyed boy full of mischief. Ryan's mommy loves shots that capture just who Ryan is--a busy, active, mischievous boy! Sure a few smiles for the camera are nice~ but what one year old sits and smiles all the time? Not Ryan, he's too busy walking, pointing, crawling on things, grabbing sticks, pushing over stools and smashing his birthday cake. Sounds like a boy to me!

Noah~ 12 months

I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed seeing Noah every 3 months for the past year! He was such a beautiful baby and now what a big boy he's become. I think his eyes keep getting bluer and bigger each time I see him. I have quite a time keeping grandma out of Noah's line of vision because when she's around he only has eyes for her ~ and you can sure tell that from the images in this collage. Look what a difference one year can make!

No Red Here

This family is all about the green. Gather the grandkids and grandpa's JDs and it's a wall portrait waiting to happen.

9 months old

Look how big Ryan has gotten! The 9 month session is one of my favorite session- the children are interactive and able to sit and they seem to enjoy getting their portraits done as much as I enjoy doing them. Ryan had no problem showing off his big smile.

Modeling Tutors

I think I'm going to rent these five out as modeling tutors. These five were on their mark and some of the most cooperative children models I've seen. Even Mr. Heath- age 3, { typically not an easy age since getting portraits for mom's wall is not typically on their list of things to do} stepped right up and and was more than willing to strike a pose, flash a smile and be in the spotlight.

Lil' Flirt

Not even a month old, and little Aubrey already looks to be quite the flirt. I think mom and dad have to keep an eye on this one!
