Studio Samples for Sale

I've been working to refresh studio samples as well as ordering a few new products to add to the boutique and specialty shop.
Revamping some pricing and collections- which resulted in LOWER (yes, that's right- I said LOWER) pricing for wall portraits larger than 16x20.

IF you or someone you know has a sample of your family/child in my studio- please contact me if you would like to purchase it at a VERY deep discount. I've tried to contact most of you. All samples must be picked up this week as I will not have the means to store them indefinitely. I'd love to see them go to a good home! YOUR home! ;)

Not too late for Senior Pictures!

The weather on Sarah's senior picture day gave us temperatures just warm enough to take a few outdoors in the new fallen snow.
It's not hard to see that Sarah is a natural in front of the camera. Did you know, that for many, senior portraits are the last portraits they have done before the next major milestone in their life...their wedding! I always appreciate when someone trusts me in capturing this major milestone in their life. Here are a couple shares from Sarah's session.

Hello 2011

What? My blog! It's still here? Despite being neglected and close to abandoned- it is still here waiting for me to log in and jot a line or two about life, photography, or whatever. It's true- the longer I've put it of the harder it's gotten to get back in the groove.
First my excuse was a fabulously busy senior picture season- which was followed by the family portrait and Christmas card sessions rush. I was sure once things slowed down when I took time off in December I would get things up to date- post some by-gone session images, write some brilliantly informative (yet humorous posts) all while rearing my three children, the youngest of whom is going for the record of being the oldest baby to not sleep through the night (let alone a straight 4 hours) and may possibly be the only child to go Kindergarten unweaned. I'd sort of like to write the Le Leche League hate mail-- but I digress.

Why is it- every December- when I plan to take a few weeks off to catch up/plan ahead and relax my computer takes a nosedive.
Well, once again this December the ole PC pushed me to my limits and I bit the bullet and went MAC. So now I"ve got a bit of a learning curve to get thru, but I'm hoping this puts a final end to my PC headaches.

BUT---- I am excited to share my first baby shoot of 2011- Mr. Joshua! The scale image is one of my favorites and Mr. J's mamma is always so willing to allow me to play and try new props/poses and lighting out with him that he's a joy to work with.

Thanks for letting me share some of my work with you- no matter how sporadic sometimes it may be.

REMINDER~ Studio Closed Dec 1

Just a reminder that as in years past- our studio will be closed the month of December to finalize prior orders and allow some time to spend preparing for the holiday with the family.
If you would like to place an order, please do so prior to December.

After school weekday sessions are now fully booked and I have just a couple remaining openings remaining for daytime/weekend sessions, and I anticipate those will be gone by this week, so if you've been putting it off, don't delay. I hate turning people away but every year I have to do it.

I've enjoyed the variety of family sessions I've been busy with this past week. Some formal, some funky, some informal- all with a different look. It's fun to see the holiday cards laid out on my work desk waiting for packaging. Oh, if only my OWN card were done! Somehow it all seems to get done I guess!

Timeless Vintage Photographs

My nephew (who has a great eye by the way) shared a link with me that he thought I would enjoy. He was right. And I wanted to take a minute to share it with you- in case you have an appreciation of history and photography. I've seen similar images in black and white or sepia, - which are interesting of course, but it's amazing how when it's in color it really seems to make that connection between what seems like such a long time ago and makes it relate more directly to our world today. I love seeing the people's clothing in colors of the 40's (notice that first lady's flour sack apron) and the vintage signs on all the buildings. I'm going to bookmark these and take a little more time examining them

Artist Eye | Lakefield Family Photography

"We're at your disposal!" That's what this family told me- they were interested in anything creative- anything different! Something I appreciated but I felt the pressure was on as dad is a talented artist himself, as well as a published illustrator! But in one regard it was freeing knowing they were willing to do anything- and that included taking their shoes off, sitting on rusty old screens, getting dirty (or at the least not worrying about staying clean) and just having a good time and I hope the images portray what a carefree and fun family they are.
I took the chance of this artistic freedom to shoot a wider angle lens and get some different looks than I usually envision. I love the results.
But I think one of my favorites is the the family pose amongst the portraits dad painted of each family member. I am so glad the took the initiative to bring them along!
